Zerek Smith is a restoration field crew member with three months experience at his current position. Smith has been with the AES team since August of 2017. His primary duties include removal of invasive species, collection of native seeds, and the planting of native plants. He graduated from SUNY Cobleskill in May of 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in environmental management.
Prior to working at AES, Smith worked on a 200-acre vegetable farm for three years in Schoharie, NY where he was involved in nearly every step of the vegetable farming process. Smith has also been a part of the Schoharie County Soil and Water Conservation District in their stream program. During his time there he monitored water quality, measured water discharge, and reduced nonpoint source pollution within Schoharie County.
He has extensive knowledge in wildlife and plant identification along with skills dealing with environmental management.
