Why do you enjoy working for AES?

I enjoy working at a place where I feel that I’m making a difference. I consider environmental degradation, in all of its various forms, to be one of the biggest challenges in human history, and it will only become more significant as the effects of climate change grow, sea levels rise, invasive species spread, water quality declines, and deforestation and habitat destruction continue. It’s easy to feel hopeless in the face of those significant challenges, but when I leave work most days, I feel like I’ve done something to stem the tide, even if it’s in some small way. Colleagues at AES have a similar view, which is important because we can accomplish so much collectively if we are pulling in the same direction.

I enjoy working for AES because of the people. They are all passionate and knowledgeable about what they do. We are one big family.

I enjoy working for AES because I believe very strongly in the work that we do. On a personal level, I enjoy that my days at work [as a site steward and seed collector for AES’ Taylor Creek Restoration Nurseries] furnish discovery and learning on many levels, including project and geographic variety.

What sets AES aside from other companies?

AES hires highly educated team members instead of simply employing laborers. This promotes intelligent discussion throughout projects, resulting in successful project outcomes.

We approach projects from a holistic, ecological perspective, allowing for integrated solutions that benefit our clients and the ecosystems we design, build, and maintain.

From the perspective of applications of remote sensing technology to ecological restoration, AES is the only company I know of to use remote sensing as a land management tool. Because of this, I think AES has found its own unique niche to flourish in a competitive business.
