Thank you for your interest in native prairie plants and seeds from
Taylor Creek Restoration Nurseries!

We are encouraged by the explosion of interest in native prairie landscapes that we’ve seen in the past 10 years, and we are honored to contribute to the restoration of native landscapes in any way we can. Taylor Creek Nurseries has been growing for over 20 years now, and we’re always happy to share our seed and our knowledge with others who share our enthusiasm for prairie ecology.

In the late 1970s, Taylor Creek Nurseries was developed as the genetically native seed source for the pioneering prairie and wetland restoration work of Applied Ecological Services. AES is highly regarded for its research and consulting in the restoration of native ecosystems throughout the Midwest, and Taylor Creek is the primary source of native seed and plants for the many successful restorations led by AES ecologists.

Our Philosophy: Work With Nature, Not Against It
More and more landscape architects, land planners and private land owners are learning to work with native plants that are naturally adapted to local soils and climates. In contrast, non-native plants cannot support themselves without large investments of fertilizers, chemicals and irrigation.

Lower Costs, Fewer Problems, Less Care
Once established, native prairie plants don’t require weekly mowing, fertilizer or watering. By replacing a turfgrass lawn with a beautiful prairie landscape, you’ll easily save up to $700 per acre, per year in lawn fertilizer, chemicals and herbicide. Established prairie grasses and wildflowers (forbs) will thrive and bloom without watering even in the dry seasons when conventional turfgrass lawns turn brown.

Promoting And Protecting Our Natural Resources
Taylor Creek does not dig any plants in the wild. All plants in our nursery were started from small hand picked lots of seed collected locally and propagated over several years in our nursery. We are a leading nursery in propagating local Midwestern ecotype plants and seeds, and as ecologists, we take our science very seriously.
