Senior Fluvial Geomorphologist/Stream Restoration Specialist
Applied Ecological Services, Inc., an international integrated ecological services firm, is seeking a full-time Senior Fluvial Geomorphologist working out of offices near Madison, Chicago, Philadelphia, Minneapolis or Dallas-Ft. Worth. Primary responsibilities will include the investigation, design and construction of a wide range of water and related resources projects including river restoration, fish passage, flood management, stormwater management, water and sediment budgets, and water quality. Representative projects include restoration of rivers for bank stabilization, species habitat recreation and water quality and watershed assessment/planning. The successful candidate will possess broad competency within the general fields of water resources, hydrology and hydraulics, and will also demonstrate significant depth of knowledge in fluvial geomorphology, sediment transport, stream ecology, aquatic biology, or limnology. Demonstrated expertise in the development and application of multi-dimensional hydraulic and sediment transport models to solve practical water management challenges along with the desire to mentor younger staff is essential. A degree in civil or environmental engineering, hydrology, geology, geomorphology environmental science, aquatic ecology, or related science. A licensed P.E. is preferred. A reputation as a team player, with personal initiative and willingness to put in the extra time and effort as needed is highly valued. A demonstrated record of publications and knowledge of the current state of science/literature in geomorphology, sediment transport, and restoration fields is a plus. You should have strong writing and speaking skills as well as the desire to grow personally and professionally with each project. You should also have a propensity for business development and the ability to immediately leverage your contacts throughout the industry. Senior Ecologist
Applied Ecological Services, Inc., an international integrated ecological services firm headquartered in Brodhead Wisconsin is seeking to fill an exciting new role in the Company. We have a need for a SENIOR ECOLOGIST with exceptional leadership skills, strong business skills and a well rounded background. The selected candidate will have a minimum of 4-6 years experience within their profession and a Masters degree and 5-10 years of professional experience with in the private sector working for an engineering, landscape architecture or ecology based consulting firm. The selected individual will be expected to participate in business development, proposal writing, and vetting potential project opportunities. The individual must be used to working in a fast paced, growth oriented environment as well as in a team setting. Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office products and strong project management skills and the ability to work independently. The position could be located in any one of our branch offices. Field crew member in Huntley, Illinois
Position available is for seasonal, limited term employment . This position is 100% in the field. Primary responsibilities include: all aspects of restoration work such as planting, seeding, erosion control methods, brush cutting, prescribed burns, light equipment operation, herbicide application, and various other tasks. Company will provide training. Position will require new employee to acquire herbicide applicators license within 1 month of start date. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion and up to 35 pounds on a regular basis. Valid driver’s license required. Overnight trips may be required. Pay is based on experience. Must be 18.
Field Equipment Operators near Brodhead Wisconsin
This position is 10% at the AES home office, 90% in the field. The primary function of the Equipment Operator is to load, transport and operate equipment to perform ecological restoration work. The Equipment Operator may also be asked to supervise one to three field employees at times. Position available is for limited term employment with the potential to become full time. Primary responsibilities include: all aspects of restoration work such as planting, seeding, erosion control methods, brush cutting, prescribed burns, equipment operation, herbicide application, and various other tasks. Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Natural Resource field ; and one to two years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion and up to 35 pounds on a regular basis. Valid driver’s license required. Must have or be able to obtain a Class A CDL..Overnight trips will be required. Pay is based on experience. Must be 18.
Field crew members near Waterloo, NY
Position available is for limited term employment with the potential to become full time. Primary responsibilities include: all aspects of restoration work such as planting, seeding, erosion control methods, brush cutting, prescribed burns, light equipment operation, herbicide application, and various other tasks. Preferred education is B.A. in natural resources, or other related training. Position will require new employee to acquire herbicide applicators license within 30 days of start date. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion and up to 35 pounds on a regular basis. Valid driver’s license required, New York driver license preferred. Overnight trips will be required. Pay is based on experience. Must be 18.

Field crew members near Kansas City, KS
This position is 100% in the field, starting in September 2010. The primary responsibility is to complete ecological restoration work in the field. This position is native landscaping type work. Primary responsibilities include planting, seeding, applying mulch, erosion control materials and light equipment operation. The project sites are primarily located in the Kansas City area; crews will mobilize from the Lawrence, Kansas office in company vehicles.
Must be 18. A pre-employment drug screen is required. Must have the ability to pass a DOT physical.
