Ripe for the picking

A 2003 APEX Award for Excellence in graphic design, editorial content and overall communications and a 2003 Clarion National Award were awarded to AES and Velasco & Associates for the concept and design of the Rain Garden brochure!

Native plants and seeds, many perfect for fall planting, are on sale at AES’ sister company, Taylor Creek Restoration Nurseries; please call 608/897-8641 for a copy of the 2003 Native Prairie Plant and Seed Catalog. You can have your order shipped directly or take a scenic drive and pick up your plants at AES/Taylor Creek in Brodhead, WI. Native plants from Taylor Creek are also now available at Johanssen’s Garden Center in Madison, WI; contact them at 608/271-6211.

Feeling creative this summer? Why not plant your own native rain garden or bird and butterfly garden! Step-by-step instructions, sample layouts and listings of all the plants you’ll need are available from Taylor Creek. Call and ask for the new Rain Garden and/or Bird & Butterfly design sheets, or view them online at www.appliedeco.com.

After completing your native garden, accent it with a new Native Planting yard sign. This durable sign features an attractive, artistic rendering of river bulrush (scirpus fluviatilis) and tells the world that “this unique garden celebrates the biodiversity of our native Midwestern landscape.” Sign measures 6" x 9" and comes with four holes prepunched for easy attachment with wire or screws. Signs may be purchased for $17 apiece and can be ordered by calling Taylor Creek at 608/897-8641; please ask for Corrie.

NEW! Spread your enthusiasm for native landscaping by displaying Taylor Creek’s garden sign.
